ATI, the company you DON'T go to for a lasting...

investment. Simply put, don't go with them if you want to use your laptop for a longer period than two years. For the second time in under 4 years they've discontinued all previous models of their cards from their drivers, and as a result they've left their card's driverless. As a result, I may be having trouble with Second Life and my aeromorph's in the near future. My x1300 is among the cards recently removed from their list of supported cards, and I'm unsure how much longer I can use the older Linux drivers before I have to use the open source drivers. (Not sure how well those will work when I have to use them. The current Radeon driver in both Ubuntu and Mandriva causes a DE lockup when I try to play SecondLife). Here's hoping things improve, or I somehow manage to get an Nvidia (unlikely. My card's integrated, and my laptop doesn't have any slots I know of to put a graphics card into.)
